It’s that time again: 3:00pm.
You’ve been working all day, maybe running errands and seemingly suddenly: You have NOOO energy.
How does that happen? That answer is pretty easy. It’s a combination of legit fatigue and tiredness, sugar crashes, and dehydration. These are factors a good health plan can help you with.
But what are the quick fixes you can use to pump up that energy?
Here are our top 5 Tips to Boost Your 3PM Energy:
1. Try a simple yoga pose.
Yoga is energizing. And promotes balance and flexibility into your life. Let’s face it: We could all use a bit of that! This yoga pose: The Inversion is a quick way to stretch out your neck, back, and arms, realign and re-focus your energies for the remainder of the day. Inversions are also good for improving circulation, hormones, and the respiratory system.
To do this simple pose, just bend over and touch your toes (or as close as you can get). Don’t lock your knees, keep a slight bend in them. Relax your neck, shoulders, and jaw: Hold no tension. Completely relax and hold this pose for 5-10 breaths. This can easily be done at work or home!
2. Get some fresh air.
There is nothing better for energy than breathing in some fresh air – even when it’s humid or cold. Oxygen improves circulation and brings nutrients to every cell in your body. Breathing in good quality air cleans out the body and makes you feel more refreshed. Sunshine is invigorating too. So try to take 1-3 mini five minute breaks a day to rejuvenate in some fresh air and sunshine. This especially important when you’re at the office all day!
3. Breathing Break.
Deep breath in. And out. Another deep breath in. And out. Doing breathing exercises is a great way to reinvigorate at 3pm. In yoga, the breath is known as prana or a universal energy that can be used to find a balance between the body-mind. When you breathe in short, fast rhythmic breaths you can increase energy. This is similar to the “chest” breathing we do when under stress. The breaths recreatethe adrenal stimulation and release energizing chemicals. Try breathing quick, short breath through your mouth for 30 seconds. Take a short break, then repeat.
4. Have a superfood snack
When energy drops, turn towards healthy foods. Superfoods like cacao, raw honey, coconut oil, or chlorella or BIG energy boosters! Try an energizing smoothies loaded with good ingredients.
5. Drink up!
No, it’s not 5 o’clock somewhere… but a big cause for lack of energy is dehydatrion. Don’t reach for coffee as this will make tomorrow even morse. Instead, make the healthier choice. drink a big class of water, cold green tea, or a warm herb infused fruit tea. Teas have some really healthy properties (depending on the tea) and the extra water will curb cravings, help your body transport nutrients, and boost your energy.
