Eating for Mental Health
Hey gang!
So last week was pretty crazy (no pun intended) but luckily this week I’m sitting on a beach chair. But I’m a mutlitasker and am still able to come at you with a Health Tip Video.
This video is a preliminary discussion about how food can affect neurotransmitters in the brain which can affect mood and mental health. I don’t want to give off the impression that food is the sole source of feeling good–there are so many ways we need to make good lives for ourselves in order to feel good. But a lot of people over look the way food can be used to make you stable and happy (outside of that delicious chocolate cake, of course).
I want to conclude by saying that if you’re lonely but you eat really well with whole food, complex carbs and nutrient rich meals, at the end of the day, you’ll still be lonely.
But if you find yourself binging because of that emotional unhappiness, know that that food CAN act as a drug and alleviate those issues but won’t fix the problem, and can actually make it worse.
But eating a good diet with a lot of greens and other color can help you feel better.
Food is SECONDARY nourishment. The people we love, the activities we take apart in, and the way we approach each day is what really feeds our lives.
And yes, I believe being “stable” also means having a little crazy in you and embracing it. We all have it; might as well let it shine!<3k

Please enjoy that beach chair for me too
I do agree that we need to remember to nourish ourselves with the things that make us happy like family and friends.
Hehe, a little crazy is totally healthy! In fact, I worry most about the "sane" ones!
I definitely think that food impacts the way we feel emotionally. I would agree that it is secondary, and there have to be other external and internal things that are boosting your mood, but diet really does play a part in overcoming depression and emotional issues. It goes back to letting your food be your medicine…having a proper diet balances you out and gives your body the tools it needs to function properly- which includes neurotransmitters in the brain. Great post! By the way, you are very well spoken. I can't imagine doing a video post- I would have too many "ums" and "uhs" to be understood properly haha…I'm not good at "public" speaking.
I like a little crazy. Works for me.
thank you! you are definitely knowledgeable yourself. enjoy the rest of your weekend!
