Spice Savvy: Cumin
We’re here today with a look at one of my favorite spices: Cumin.
- Cumin is loaded with iron, great for building blood cells, creating energy enzymes, revving metabolism, transporting oxygen, and immune support. Iron is also a MUST for women.
- Great for digestion – Cumin stimulates pancreatic enzymes that help assimilate nutrients.
- Cumin is a scout for free radicals (cancer causing cells) and is loaded with detoxification enzymes in the liver, where all of our food goes to get “judged” and either used or dumped (no pun intended). This detoxification process can help remove these free-radicals from our bodies.
Cumin has a strong peppery and nutty flavor. It is truly one of my favorites! Any one of these hummus recipes come highly recommended from your truly, along with the wonderful effects of cumin:
Moroccan Hummus, heavy on the Tahini. Mm.
My Sprouted Chickpea Hummus with living and nutrient dense chickpeas.
My favorite, Spinach Pine Nut Hummus.
Strawberry Hummus if you’re feeling something sweet.
And my Indian Nut Pate, not a hummus, but a great snack too.
I buy it in bulk online to same some money. I’ve been using Iherb.com, thanks originally to Averie – now I’m hooked to this site! And if you use my referral code: IGE951 you’ll save $5 on your first order.
Happy Eating today everyone! Throw in some Cumin!!

Hey, can I ask how long you spend researching before making a post like this? I’m thinking about writing similar articles! Thanks
Hi Katherine, Thanks for the kind words. All of the hummus links and recipes came from my previous posts, so that didn’t take much time as long as you have the resources. The other part took about 1/2 hour. All in all, less than an hour to write, find pictures for, and format. Best of luck!
I bookmarked this link. Thank you for good job!
