Helloooo blog friends!
How is everyone’s week going? It seems like people are getting back in the swing of things as school rolls around and vacation time has been used. My source of evidence? Well, my Twitter feed was filling up quite frequently this morning and my own little brother headed off to start 4th grade today.
I’m going to take a minute and gush over him. Before going away to school 4 years ago, me and my baby brother were inseparable. While in college I didn’t get to see that little “Buddah” as much as I’d want to. And today was the first time since Kindergarten I got to walk him to his first day of school.
Yesterday though, we had some fun with the MacBook Photo Booth, as he interrupted my “working from home” status while welcoming me with a much needed break.
I understand he’s kind of past that “cute stage” from when I left for school. Now he’s just such a goofer! There are seriously about 100 of shots like these… but you get the picture. (no pun intended LOL)
Slowly and surely and I’ll teach him a bit more why eating healthy is so important. Mostly by leading by example. I learned last year that trying to force-feed a kid healthy foods will get you nowhere.
And since I’m only home for a couple weeks before getting my own place, I’m just aiming to include him in “healthy food” prep and baking so that he starts to see the big picture and maybe why those Pop Tarts he loves aren’t such a good idea!
And it’s working…. (muhahaha). Yesterday I had him rip, rinse, spin, AND massage
I can’t get over it!!
But his help was much appreciated–I mean, look at this lunch:
Kale, carrots, mulberries, cranberries, sunflower seeds.
Later that night I made ANOTHER fun side salad with fresh figs (!), cauliflower rice, and red leaf lettuce:
And I’m sorry. I bet you all would be way more interested in the whole wheat and spinach home made pasta we made to accompany this green, but the camera died… so MY BAD.
But I’m certain I’ll have another opportunity to photograph that activity very soon!
I ALSO made a Wheat Berry Salad–my mom’s favorite.
Wheat berries, scallion, cherries, pistachios, olive oil, orange juice, and salt.
As well as hummus, almond pulp cookies, homemade pasta sauce, and smoothies to boot.
But more of that LATER.
Happy Hump Day all! See you tomorrow
